Sungwon Kim is a guitarist, composer, & producer based in the NYC area.
Among others, Sungwon has collaborated with John scofield (miles davis), adam rogers (norah jones), peter bernstein (brad mehldau), Valerie Simpson (Ashford and Simpson, Marvin Gaye), Mark Walker (Michael Brecker), David Fiuczynsky (Hiromi, Jack Dejohnette), Talley Sherwood (Grammy winning engineer, Tina Turner), Jimmy Wyble (Jazz Legend), David Glasser (Grammy winning engineer), John Blackwell (Prince, D'Angelo), alan ferber (harry connick jr, esperanza spalding), max weinberg (bruce springsteen, Conan o'brien), john patitucci (wayne shorter), david cook (taylor swift), chris cheek, jon cowherd (brian blade fellowship), john Ellis, will vinson, Frank Vanderbilt (Lenny Kravitz), jojo mayer.
he also has collaborated with many k-pop artists such as taewoo kim (god), gummy, jk kim dong-wook, so-hyang, Everglow, seomoon tak, etc.

Currently, he is playing in the pit orchestra for the hit Broadway musical 'Wicked', ‘Hamilton’, ‘frozen’, ‘kinky boots’, ‘titanique’, ‘strange loops’, ‘almost famous’, ‘dacin’’, 'one thousand nights and one day', ‘little shop of horror’, ‘suffs’ and ‘how to dance in ohio’ in nyc. he also played wicked the musical north america tour.
he is also teaching at new york university as adjunct professor.
sungwon’s duo album with pianist yoonseung cho was nominated for 2020 korean music award - best jazz album of the year.
He graduated from Berklee College of Music (Magna Cum Laude, recipient of numerous awards and full scholarship), Musicians Institute, and Los Angeles Music Academy (Recipient of scholarship). He also earned a graduate degree in Jazz Studies at NYU Steinhardt (Recipient of scholarship).
